The Day Digg Got Destroyed
Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007
For those who haven’t seen this yet, I thought I’d just comment on it because it’s pretty interesting. Digg.com decided to remove some user stories which detailed the HD-DVD Processing Key for all movies that have been released in the format so far. Digg, removed this as if they have knowledge of a copyright-infringing activity, they’re prosecutable.
However, the users really didn’t like it and Digg has been spammed to hell. Every single news story on the front page is the HD-DVD Processing Key they were trying to ban. The users built Digg, it seems they can destroy it too.
Here’s a pic of the front page of Digg today, for the history books.

Update: Kevin Rose, founder of Digg, made this statement saying that they will no longer remove stories of the HD-DVD key, regardless of the consequences.
